A Day in the Life of a GTA Realtor: What It’s Really Like Helping Clients Find Home

Many people imagine a realtor’s day as glamorous – showing beautiful homes, negotiating deals, and celebrating closings with happy clients. While all of that is true, what you don’t see is the behind-the-scenes hustle, long hours, and dedication it takes to make every transaction a success.

Here’s a look at what a typical day is like for me as a GTA realtor – and why I love helping clients through one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

Morning: Emails, Calls, and Market Updates

My day usually starts early – before my boys, Brooks and Nash, wake up. I spend the quiet morning hours checking emails, responding to client questions, and reviewing new listings that hit the market overnight.

I also analyze market stats to stay on top of pricing trends in Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington, and the GTA. Knowing what’s happening in real time allows me to give my clients the best possible advice when buying or selling.

Midday: Showings, Appointments, and Networking

Once the kids are at school, the day really kicks into high gear. Depending on the day, I might be:

  • Touring homes with buyers and discussing which ones check off their wish list.

  • Meeting with sellers to evaluate their property and discuss pricing strategy.

  • Coordinating with stagers, photographers, and contractors to get a home ready for market.

  • Networking with other agents to learn about upcoming listings that haven’t hit MLS yet.

No two days are ever the same – and that’s what I love about this career.

Afternoons: Negotiations and Client Support

Once showings are done, I spend time drafting offers, reviewing contracts, and negotiating on behalf of my clients. It’s my job to make sure every client feels informed, confident, and supported – whether they’re first-time buyers or experienced sellers.

Sometimes that means late-day phone calls to explain next steps, or driving across town to meet a client in person when a big decision needs to be made.

Evenings: Family Time (and More Emails!)

After dinner and bedtime stories with Brooks and Nash, I often spend another hour or two catching up on emails, client updates, and preparing for the next day. Real estate doesn’t follow a 9–5 schedule – and that’s part of what makes it so rewarding.

Why I Love What I Do

Yes, real estate can be busy and unpredictable – but nothing compares to the joy of handing clients the keys to their dream home or helping a family sell a property that holds years of memories.

Every client’s story is unique, and I feel honoured to play a role in such an important chapter of their lives.

The Bottom Line

Being a realtor is so much more than listing homes and writing offers – it’s about building relationships, solving problems, and being there for people during life-changing moments.

I love the variety, the connections, and the privilege of helping clients find not just a house – but a place to truly call home.
